2 Days Until Takeoff!
Can't believe it's finally here! All of us in our small group have been preparing for months gathering supplies, planning and awaiting our trip to San Jose, Costa Rica.
For this missions trip we will take off early Friday morning and hopefully arrive around noon or so the same day. We will meet our bilingual guide and go to our hotel.
On Saturday morning we will help with construction work, and in the afternoon we will be running a VBS for the local kids. Our VBS will be Easter themed since it is close to that time of year. We will have games and Easter themed crafts for the kids. We will be running this through the church in that area, and many of the children that will attend do not go to church or hear any news of the gospel. This will be a great experience for them and it will show their parents that it is a safe place for them to come and may spark their interest to attend church.
On Sunday we will get the opportunity to attend alongside the members of the church, and may also have an activity (most likely an Easter egg hunt) for the kids during Sunday school hour. After that we will get to head out for an afternoon of grocery shopping and a cooking class. We will get to interact with a Costa Rican family and learn Costa Rican cooking and baking. On Monday we will also be doing construction work and running the VBS.
On Tuesday we will wake up early and head out on a Catamaran cruise to Tortuga island. We will get to snorkel, ride a banana boat and just hang out on the beach. Sounds good in March! For lunch we will try Costa Rican BBQ! Afterwards we will return to our hotel for out last night. On Wednesday we will head out and board a plane back home.
I'd just like to thank everyone who has followed us along this journey of preparation. Our work is about to pay off, and will hopefully shine a light into the hearts of the little ones who have yet to hear the good news of the gospel. I better go finish packing! Adios for now!
